Star Trek 2009 Movie Review

OMG... it was amazing... but then again i've already expected that :D So all that was missing was to complete the experience :D
Well the first question would be whether non-followers of the continuum can enjoy it? HELL YA!! Thats why they brought in Mr Orci & Kurtman... they've got the magic touch of balance between fans & newbies... which is something that really makes the $$$ these days.. so these guys will be enjoying the moment for a while :D
The CAST? - Brilliant as we all know already (Zach Q, Pine, Saldana, Pegg, Yelchin, Cross, Urban, Greenwood, Bana, Nimoy, Cho.. super star cast...) but we all have just to wait to see them in action to put their performance with expectation . I was particularly impressed with Sarek... this version takes it up a few notches!!
Choice of story was interesting... we all know its a reboot... but a well written reboot with a good start & end package. Definitely a movie to be watch at least 3 times... 1st to experience.. 2nd to affirm & 3rd to watch in IMAX if it ever comes!! :D
Was initiall afraid that Mr JJ would over do the shakey hand held camera but he did well in minimalizing it or maybe just optimally used it to accurate effect :) However I wud like to say that Mr JJ did a brilliant job at adding much depth & size to the Star Trek Universe. It still has a TV feel at times but a super-massive silver screen panoramic view of space (...the final frontier) hehe.
The original score & upgraded sound FX have also UPPED the quality of the typical star trek movie... FX - courtesy of ILM maestro Ben Burtt & score composed by experienced VG scorer Michael Giacchino who is a good friend of Mr JJ (mostly from LOST). Michael upped the feel by composing a score that was particularly classic to late 80's action movies... with a lot of brass instruments playing lower chords for selective scenes & character lay motive... which has images of what John Williams did for the movies like Empire strikes back & Raiders of the Lost Ark.
No doubt the reboot was to bring in new followers as well as excite (rejuvenate) the old franchise to its glory days. I say it has done its job with the magic balance for fans + newbies. we all will be longing for more!!
Its a non-stop edgy nail biting action that will keep u glued to ur seats from beginning till end! So put ur shields up & go to red alert for this space adventure is about to begin!!
Star Trek XI has truly Boldly gone where no Star Trek film has gone before ... in a long time... if ever = be a SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER MONSTER at the box office!!
May the franchise - Live Long & Prosper... 'Good Luck'
Lt. Commander Allen
